You raise a lot of great questions. I too have been thinking a lot about representation. The challenge, as you note, is in navigating the differences between reflecting reality and making a point. Moreover, some characters simply aren’t nuanced or engaging, and instead are pawns in a larger culture war. We have a long way to go, but I am glad that we’re seeing these shifts, even so.
