What’s fascinating is that horror movies have always been lurking (ahem) behind all the sociopolitical movements and anxieties of the past 100 years, dating back to influential films such as Nosferatu. It amazes me that people act like this genre is nothing but cheap pedestrian fluff rather than insightful, artistic pieces. Sure, there’s some stuff made for shock value and some that are just bad, but as a genre, horror and all its subgenres are very important measures of our current society. Bravo on a great article!
