The problem with normalizing mental illness and pretending that so many have it is that it’s taken less and less seriously for those who do have it. I have OCD and PTSD, two conditions that people like to joke that they have. While the stigma may be less, I’m still shocking to people when I actually have symptoms because while they can snap out of their fake illness, I cannot.
