So well said. I've been dismayed to see people posting that they can tell by others' silence on social media how they "really feel." Is social media ever really a reflection of how we feel? Or is it performative allyship and hashtag activism? I do care deeply about these issues, but as you say, it's overwhelming. I can barely summon the energy to think about everything going on, and I don't want to post something vapid and superficial just to get a cookie from other people. If my relative silence on social media means that some people think I'm racist, I suppose I can't change that. But I'll continue to fight for change as I can.
