I recently left a salaried position with benefits because it was a toxic environment, and I’m now in an hourly, temporary position (thankfully, still with benefits). And I’m happier. I get paid overtime when I do put in more than 40 hours, I have room to grow, and I can more easily compartmentalize. In many ways, I work harder than when I was salaried.
