I love that you bring together important discussions of MI and our education system. As a “gifted” child, I was made to believe that I was smart — but I was constantly bored in school. A lot of teachers hated me for my zeal for learning. Then in college I realized how many of my peers lacked basic skills. Moreover, many of them simply shouldn’t have been in college because their talents lay elsewhere, but there’s such shame for people who don’t go to college. Our society conflates academic success with intelligence even when there’s no guarantee that one involves the other.
