I appreciate all of this. I never imagined that I would eventually be earning up to [undisclosed amount] every month on Medium. But it took me years to get here — and lots of time and money spent. Thankfully, I just love to write and I’ve got enough business sense to earn money doing it. But I too am tired of the endless “Here’s how I made $X per month blogging” posts. They’re way too reminiscent of how MLM people talk: full of snake oil and empty promises. And what kills me is that people will consider themselves an expert on blogging when they’ve done it only a few months! I saw an article the other day titled, “How to Make $100 a Month on Medium.” Like… great? The bar is so low that we’re trying to monetize our thoughts on how to make enough money to pay one of our bills. When I do click on one of these articles, I usually find them full of spelling and grammatical errors. Enough of it: Let’s shift the focus to good writing, good business, and good ideas.
