I agree, it’s often an arbitrary distinction and plenty of films straddle the two. From the classicist angle, a drama involves deep musings and moralizing about the nature of existence and often has a bittersweet or tragic ending, while a comedy can satirize existence and/or play to base desires. I do think it’s a better distinction than Best Picture vs. Most Popular, though!
